My News Feed’s success at balancing news stories

My News Feed Team

Local news outlet My News Feed is still hitting the mark after its fourth month of operation, and with over 13,000 regular users of its online news service in Logan, My News Feed Logan has quickly become the preferred choice of local news providers in the city.

But it isn’t just the local news stories that Logan City residents are loving, it’s also the balance of positive news stories coming from the local community which are also being reported on.

“News isn’t just about a police incident, it’s finding the right balance in the news service within the community,” said My News Feed editor Scott Mayman. “Logan City has for many years been tarred with negative stories, but My News Feed has made the decision that many positive local stories are coming out of Logan City, and they should be reported on.”

“We make a conscious effort to have a balance in the news, ensuring we cover the latest news as well as good grass-roots stories.”

The subscription-free publication has a large reach, extending to those in the Scenic Rim and publishing relevant stories from the area.

My News Feed Content and Features Coordinator Jessica Arellano says the online publication recently decided to go even further in spreading good news.

“We’ve decided to run a number of new series featuring some of the wonderful people, businesses and events within Logan,” Ms Arellano said. “We have started a Logan’s Heroes series which gives a shout-out to unsung heroes within our community, and also a Logan’s Best of series, which will give locals the chance to nominate their favourite business for various categories each fortnight.

“My News Feed is also dedicating a weekly feature to report on events happening all around this fantastic city, so we can keep locals up-to-date with what’s going on in their backyard.”
