Operation Winter Warrior

Radio Station: The Breeze Gold Coast and Logan
SPONSOR: Zarraffas
Date of Activation: April 2026

Overview

Operation Winter Warrior was an 8-week community campaign led by The Breeze Gold Coast and Logan, running from 13 April 2026 to 6 June 2026. The campaign was designed to raise awareness of winter hardship and encourage the local community, workplaces, schools and businesses to donate new winter essentials for Queenslanders doing it tough during the colder months.

The campaign was proudly supported by local Zarraffa’s Coffee stores, with the campaign message aligned to the sponsor tagline: “Your moment, Your Zarraffa’s.” Zarraffa’s locations across Logan and the Gold Coast served as key collection points, helping make donations easy and accessible for the community.

Operation Winter Warrior encouraged listeners to purchase one or two extra items while shopping and donate them to someone in need. Requested donations included new warm clothing, jumpers, coats, warm shirts, pyjamas, socks, beanies, scarves, children’s winter clothing, pet clothing and essentials, and non-perishable food items.

All donations stayed local, with Logan donations supporting Defenders for Hope and Gold Coast donations supporting Hearts of Purple.

Sponsor Integration
Zarraffa’s Coffee was integrated throughout the campaign via on air messaging, collection point activity and store-specific promotional mentions. Sponsor messaging included references to local Zarraffa’s Coffee stores, drive-thru convenience, locally owned stores, single origin beans, freshly baked cookie and croissant range, and extended opening hours compared with many other coffee shops.

Outcomes

Operation Winter Warrior successfully brought together The Breeze, Zarraffa’s Coffee, local charity partners and the wider Logan and Gold Coast communities to support people experiencing winter hardship.

The campaign created a clear and accessible pathway for listeners to help by purchasing and donating new winter essentials at participating Zarraffa’s Coffee locations and community collection points. By using Zarraffa’s stores across the region as donation hubs, the campaign made it easy for individuals, families, workplaces and schools to contribute in a practical and meaningful way.

The on-air and community activation strategy helped maintain campaign momentum across multiple weeks, with live reads, promotional pointers, street team appearances and Jodie Shepherd’s collection visits reinforcing the donation message and keeping the campaign visible in the community.

The campaign also delivered strong community alignment for Zarraffa’s Coffee, positioning participating stores as active supporters of local families and charities during a period of seasonal need.

Donations collected through the campaign were directed to local charity partners, with Defenders for Hope supporting Logan and Hearts of Purple supporting the Gold Coast, ensuring the impact of the campaign remained local and relevant to the communities involved.
