Rebel FM’s 10th year of supporting Movember

Movember might be over, but Rebel FM is already planning next year’s campaign following the success of its 2020 Movember fundraiser.

Rebel FM raised over $8,000 as part of this year’s campaign, a record amount for the team.

The Movember initiative supports research and awareness of prostate cancer, testicular cancer, men’s mental health and suicide prevention.

Radio presenter at Rebel FM, Ashley Palmero, said Movember is quite personal for him. “I lost a good friend, and the annual campaigns are from the heart,” he said.

Rebel FM successfully celebrated its 10th year of support for the Movember cause which wrapped up last week.

“10 years ago, I realised that as a radio announcer I could communicate what Movember was about and help spread the message of Movember, to stop men dying so young,” he said.

Having conversations about men’s physical and mental health is a good place to start when supporting the important cause, Mr Palmero says.

“There are so many different ways to raise money, not just through growing a moustache, but different methods of raising awareness and funds, like the Mo Sista initiative,” he said.

Movember’s Mo Sista campaign encourages women to initiate men’s health conversations, and act as the catalyst to help men stay active during the month of November.

Since its beginnings in 2003, Movember has raised $1.16 billion to fund over 1,250 men’s health projects around the world.
